The Kansas Association of 4-H Volunteers (KA4-HV) was formed in 2001. It provides a unique opportunity for volunteers, paid staff and other individuals to join forces to build connections with others who have an interest and passion for the 4-H youth development program.
The Association has two primary goals:
1) Provide opportunities for educational volunteer development at the state and area level
2) Serve as a communication network to get information to volunteers.
Unlike other states' volunteer associations, the Kansas Association is not a political nor an advisory group. And this makes it truly unique in the nation! Membership dues are only $5.00 per year or a person can join the association as a life member for only $50.00. Contact Brenda Guenther, Treasurer, brenda.guenther@ottawa.edu for more information.
The Officers and Board of Directors for the 2008-2009 year are eager to visit with staff and volunteers about the association's goals and opportunities.

Trained and competent volunteers are fundamental to a successful 4-H program. They provide the assistance needed to enable youth to become healthy, self-directing and contributing members of society.
A new opportunity is awaiting the seasoned volunteer who is interested in serving in a key volunteer position for the county or local 4-H program! The Master 4-H Volunteer Program is designed to strengthen and enhance the 4-H volunteer's educational background so that they can be more effective in their volunteer roles in county area and state levels.
In order to become a Master 4-H Volunteer, the individual must be a VIP registered volunteer, attend specialized training and "give back" 40 volunteer hours to the 4-H program within one year of the training. The individual must also be a past or present Organizational Leader, Project Leader or County Leader/Advisor.
A project of the Kansas Association of 4-H Volunteers, the Master 4-H Volunteer Program is coordinated by Linda Henningsen, Central Kansas District, Salina. Contact your local Extension Office for more details regarding the upcoming training sessions, registration forms and ways in which you could serve as a Master 4-H Volunteer. You may also contact Linda Henningsen ljhenn@yahoo.com or Rod Buchele in the SW Area Office, rbuchele@ksu.edu.
