4-H STATE ADVISORY FUNCTION/RESPONSIBILITY

PURPOSE
The purpose of the 4-H State Advisory Committee is to provide non-binding input & direction to the 4-H Youth Development Program as it relates to and supports the KS 4-H strategic plan in accordance with the essential elements (belonging, mastery, generosity, independence) of positive youth development.

WHO IS ON THE COMMITTEE
This selected group of individuals provides rotating representation from county/district Extension faculty (3-year terms); Kansas 4-H adult volunteers (three year terms); and the twelve (was 8) youth who have represented Kansas at the National 4-H Conference (two year term).

RESPONSIBILITIES - COMMITTEE
1. Evaluate trends, participation figures, programming, etc. to
identify future needs and focuses.

2. Evaluate and/or review policy or general issues presented by 4-H
action teams, 4-H staff and KSRE that affect the greater good of the Kansas 4-H program. Communicate the status of issues to the individual or group.

3. Identify recommendations and/or issues that need follow-up
reporting at future meetings and who is responsible for that follow-up.

RESPONSIBILITIES - INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS
1. To be open minded, flexible and positive thinking considering
the greater good of the 4-H program.

2. Serve as a liaison between the area or group represented and
Advisory by collecting, reviewing and disseminating information before and after scheduled meetings.

3. Review information and provide a response in a timely manner.

4. Attend scheduled meetings.
