4-H DOG JUDGE CERTIFICATION TRAINING PROGRAM

Judges certification training is an intensive weekend designed to increase the knowledge and skills of anyone interested in dog show judging. Topics covered include youth development, experiential learning, judging requirements and philosophy, equipment, ring stewards, showmanship, obedience, agility, using score sheets, contracts, fees and travel.

The objective is for Kansas 4-H dog show judging to be more uniform and to provide a base of information for new judges. Over half of the previous participants have indicated learning more than they ever thought they would. Over 60% indicated that the "hands-on judging and practice" is what they liked best about the workshops.

If you are thinking about becoming a judge, want to improve your judging skills, are a county Dog Care and Training project leader or are an older 4-H member wanting to learn what a judge is looking for - this program is for you!

If you have questions about the next 4-H Dog Judge Certification Training Program, please call Jim Adams in the State 4-H Office at 785-532-5800. See the links at the right for this year's training.

Training for 2009 will be held on January 31-February 1, 2009 at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Gardner, KS.
