DOG CARE AND TRAINING PROJECT

Learning activities focus on these major concepts:

Careers Public Education and Laws
Grooming Records
Health Care Selection
Human/Animal Bond Showmanship
Nutrition Obedience
Agility Socialization

Another option for Dog Care and Training members is to participate in the Kansas 4-H Standard of Excellence Achievement Level Recognition Program. The purpose of this program is to create knowledgeable dog owners and members in dog care, safety, management and training skills.

In order to receive this recognition, a member must complete leadership activities, pass written knowledge tests and receive a blue or purple ribbon under two certified 4-H judges in various levels of Showmanship, Obedience or Agility (to prove their training and showing skills).

Dog Care and Training members without dogs may wish to participate in quiz bowls, dog conferences and other activities not requiring dog ownership. These members may participate in the achievement recognition by completing leadership activities and passing the knowledge test.
