Kansas State Fair Update |
|
Dates for the 2003 Kansas State Fair are September 5 - 14. Entry day is Friday, September 5. The theme for this year’s fair is "Party on the Prairie 2003". State Fair Volunteers - Agent, adult and teen volunteers
are needed for the many committees at the Kansas State Fair. Refer to the
April 2003 letter for the list of committees and duties. Volunteers will
receive an admission ticket if one is needed for the time they work. The
Committee List/Ticket Order Form is due in the State State Fair Pre-entries - Don’t wait until the August 15 deadline to make pre-entries on the KSFAIR web site or mail paper forms for State Fair pre-entries. We will begin printing and mailing entry cards for exhibits in early August. Check the State Fair packet and Kansas State Fair Exhibitor Handbook for due dates. Because of the amount of information required for entry, the Fashion Revue requires a paper entry as well as web site entry. These entry forms must be postmarked by August 15 or within 5 working days of the completion of the county fair for those counties having fairs after August 10. KSF Parking Hangtag and Encampment Reservation Forms - These forms were mailed to your office from the KSF Competitive Exhibits Department in early May. Only one copy was sent, so please make sure that it is routed to the agent responsible for the Kansas State Fair. The return procedure is the same as in previous years. The admission ticket/hang tag order and Encampment reservation forms are due to the Kansas State Fair Office by August 15. KSF Schedule of Events - Please use the schedule in the KSF Packet rather than the schedule provided in the Kansas State Fair Book, as the packet schedule is more current. KSF Handbook - Please make the following changes your
Kansas State Fair Handbook. Page 199, Horse Show Finals - change rule

Items Available to Help Market Kansas 4-H - The 4-H
Marketing Action Team has items available to help your county market 4-H
including the new "Power of Youth" We know that the best recruiters for 4-H are our current 4-H'ers and their families. With this in mind, our goal is for every current 4-H family to recruit one new family to join their club. To help families with this task, we have written a recruitment issue for the Kansas 4-H Journal. We appreciate the support of the Kansas 4-H Foundation and Rhonda Atkinson, Journal editor, in mailing out the recruitment issue and the project selection guide together. The recruitment issue has ideas for getting people interested in 4-H and encouraging them to join. Once the family has said yes, I want to join 4-H, they can use the project selection guide to select which projects they want to explore. Please share these ideas with your county ambassador team and other committees that focus on promoting 4-H. Mack |

Faculty from 5 cooperating institutions; Kansas State University, Michigan State University, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Montana State University and Colorado State University, created a program that meets the need for advanced education in youth issues and does so through a strengths-based curriculum.
