New look for the Kansas 4-H Youth Development web site: You may have noticed that the official Kansas 4-H web site has a new look. It is still under construction but the most important elements are there for your use now. The general web page can be found at http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/4hyp/ but notice that from there you can go to the new County/District Resources’ page. Other new pages are the Kid’s Page which is geared to younger 4-Hers, Volunteers’ page, and the Parenting Information and Resources Page. All of these pages have things that are unique to them but also there is duplication on them. We no longer have a long drop-down box at the top of the page, in fact the only drop-down menu you will find is the 4-H Projects drop-down listing.

The left column lists featured state and national events. Generally, these will be the events that are coming up in the next few months. You can, however, still get to the 4-H Opportunities Page by the hyperlink "More Event Links".

The middle column lists a recently released news story that features 4-H. Later, all of the prior articles for the year will be listed in an archive file. Also in the middle column, are links to the National Collegiate 4-H Club, our Kansas 4-H Foundation, our Staff Page and monthly newsletter (this tipsheet), and the drop-down box listing all the 4-H Projects. Links to the new County/District Resources Page, the Volunteers Page, the Kid’s Page and the Parent Page are all in the middle column.

The right column will feature a different 4-H event, opportunity, etc., "In the Spotlight" on a rotating basis.

I am excited to announce that we now have a way to do a search from our web site. This function will search all of Research and Extension web pages including 4-H Youth Development pages.

The "Calendar" is another new button at the bottom of most of the web pages. We are working on developing a site map and contact page. They will be coming soon! Also look for some interesting information coming soon on the 2005 Kansas 4-H Centennial!

Please contact Cheryl Thomas at 785-532-5800 or email her at cthomas@oznet.ksu.edu if you have any questions about the new look on the KS 4-H Youth Development Web Site.
