More than a Third of Counties Participated in Exchanges

Submitted by Mary Kay Munson

Once again, Kansas counties had a strong involvement in International Exchanges.  According to our records, 38 counties had host families or outbound participants in 4-H International exchanges for 2016.  The largest number of families involved were in Butler Co. where 8 families hosted Japanese. Butler Co. also included three from Sedgwick in their programming.  Other counties had hosts for IFYE’s and Finns.  Four outbounds from four different counties went to Norway. Certificates are being mailed to counties with host families during 2016.

We hope Districts or Counties will present them at a public event, such as achievement program, so that other families will become more aware of the opportunity and know who they can talk to with experience hosting.  The outbounds received certificates and pins in the mail from States’ 4-H.  We hope local units will find opportunities to include them in programs.  Thanks to all for making exchange programs available to our 4-H’ers and their families as well as others in the community.
