Poultry Testing for Local Fair

Submitted by Pam Van Horn

During the recent Fair Management discussions in April, the Kansas State Veterinarian suggested all poultry needing testing for Pullorum-Thyphoid should be tested at least 10 day prior to the county fair rather than on entry day.

The Kansas State Fair General rules states that if testing on site, any birds that test positive for Pullorum-Typhoid, the entire entry, as well as all other birds from the same premises, will be refused. Plan ahead as it’s better to be safe than sorry.
