National Volunteer Week
K-State Extension and 4-H adult volunteers will be among millions of volunteers recognized for their contributions during National Volunteer Week, April 19-25, 2026. National Volunteer Week is about recognizing the work of volunteers nationwide who give their time, talent, and energy to improve the quality of life for others.
Volunteers are a fantastic resource when we look hours given and the value of that time. According to 2024 data from Independent Sector, the value of volunteer time in Kansas is $30.86 per hour. Independent Sector calculates the value of an hour of volunteer time based on hourly earnings for private non-farm and non-managerial occupations, plus a 15.7% increase for the value of fringe benefits.
National Volunteer Week is an excellent time for volunteer managers to recognize the hard work, dedication, and commitment volunteers bring to our organization.
