Academic Year Exchange Winds Down for Family and Begins for Two More

Submitted by Deryl Waldren

The Alan and Tanya VanWey family will be concluding ten months as hosts for Nanami Jikuya, from Japan whom they have hosted in their rural Clay County home. Nanami has been part of Clay County (River Valley District) 4-H and has participated in KYLF and Discovery Days where she helped teach workshops. Nanami is dreading June 20 when she departs for home. We want to thank local coordinators Deanna Turner and Karen Langvardt who have supported Nanami and the VanWeys this year.

They have agreed to support Yuriko Takeki and the Mike and Donna Taphorn family, her hosts for the 2015-16 school year. Yuriko will arrive August 1 in the Taphorn home in Clay County. Shota Wada will arrive that date to spend the year with Randy and Becky McVey in Garden City. Tayla Cannella, Finney County 4-H Youth Agent, has agreed to support the McVeys and Shota as local coordinator.
