Ohio County Looking to Interstate Exchange with Kansas

Submitted by Deryl Waldren

Cindy Harting of Van Wert County, Ohio, and with the Van Wert County 4-H Exchange Club is looking for a county in 2018 and 2019, to have an interstate exchange, hosting one year and traveling the next year.  The third and fourth weeks of June are preferable, with the exact number of days of the exchange negotiable, as well as which county travels first.  Contact Cindy for details at 419-203-1413, or e-mail her at hartvan@onlyinternet.net.

(Cindy provides this a summary of her club).  “We are an active and busy 4-H group in Northwest Ohio. The county we represent is Van Wert County in Van Wert, Ohio.  There are many things to do in Ohio.  We are also close to Indiana.  There would be activities in Indiana that we can do, too.  Our group consists of 9 girls and 4 boys ranging in age from 13 to 18.  Previously, we have traveled and hosted:  KS, MS, WI, AR, MN, and MT.

Some activities from previous exchanges included amusement parks and Amish meals.  Tours included the making of FFA jackets, Wilson Footballs, Christmas display manufacturers, local and state fairs, Indian show, drive in theater and water activities.  Many of the kids from the group are heavily involved in 4-H and live on farms.  We involve our families in a lot of outdoor activities.  As a club we have two pork roast dinners and also host a holiday light show at our fairgrounds during the month of December for our fund raisers. We look forward to meeting and enjoy having time with our new exchange friends at cookouts and then relaxing around the campfire when you come.”  Cindy Harting
