Kansas State 4-H Ambassador Training

Submitted by Beth Hinshaw

Kansas 4-H Ambassador Training will not be scheduled for 2024. With the small crowd we have had in the last 2 years (38 youth in 2022 and 40 in 2023) and so few local units with 4-H Ambassador Programs this gives Kansas 4-H and the new Communication and Expressive Arts Project Partnership Team a chance to set goals, prioritize and make the best decisions about using limited resources to make the biggest impact for Kansas 4-H.

If you desire to have training for local 4-H Ambassadors, here are a few suggestions:

  • Include shorter communication skill trainings in each one of your 4-H Ambassador Meetings. This could be facilitated by advisors, alumni, or local communication professionals.
  • Assign a different 4-H Ambassador to teach a 4-H Communication Curriculum lesson at each meeting. This is also a Youth Development Signature Program.
  • Work with nearby Extension Units to offer training for a multi-unit group training.
  • Encourage your 4-H Ambassadors to take part in other Kansas 4-H Events and opportunities that offer communication training options, i.e., Shutterbug events, 4-H Discovery Days, Discover You Future Program, etc.

If there are individuals who are interested in serving on a Project Partnership Team to help with moving things forward for Kansas 4-H, they are encouraged to submit their application by the deadline of November 1.
