Foundations of Youth Development Offered
We invite staff to attend the fall Foundations of Youth Development training course.
Dates include:
- October 6, 2 to 3:30 pm via Zoom
- October 27, 2 to 3:30 pm via Zoom
- November 3, 2 to 3:30 pm via Zoom
- November 9: In person Capstone in Manhattan
Participants will:
- Understand the science and practice of Positive Youth Development and the role of 4-H Youth Development plays
- Explore the research base of positive youth development and the science of learning and development that is reflected in the 4-H Thriving Model
- Discover the critical elements of programs necessary to ensure a high-quality experience
- Create an environment of learning and connecting
- Learn how to create age appropriate learning experiences
- Explore the experiential learning model
- Understand and apply ways to leverage volunteers to grow and sustain programs
- Explore ways to utilize the ISOTURE model
- Understand and apply program management practices for successful 4-H programing including: policy, the volunteer screening process, financial management, 4-H club and project resources and management, youth and adult partnerships and event management
