Banana
Scientific Name: Musa x paridasiaca
Category: Fruits and Nuts
Description:
Bananas are large, herbaceous plants that grow in tropical parts of the world. Banana plants can grow up to 20 feet tall, with leaves that can be up to 12’ long and 2’ wide. The leaves of bananas often tatter easily, an adaptation that helps them survive wind storms in their native range. The bananas we eat, the ‘Cavendish’, are about 12 inches long and bright yellow when ripe.
