Description:
Blackberries are a common shrub grown in gardens across Kansas. The leaves are alternately arranged and have 3-5, but sometimes 7, leaflets. The leaves are the same color on the top and bottom. The stems of blackberries are commonly covered in thorns. The fruit of blackberries are an aggregate of drupelets and can be red or black in color. The main difference between the fruits of blackberries and raspberries is that the drupelets of blackberries are held together by an edible core, whereas raspberries are not.
