Persimmons are a fruit that grows on a tree. The fruits are about the size of a tomato and orange in color. There is a skin at the top of the fruit with four triangular lobes. Persimmons can be very astringent (they dry out your mouth) even when ripe, but picking after several frosts can make them better to eat.
