4-H Youth Development

State 4-H Horse Judging Contest

The 4-H Horse Judging Contest provides youth an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge of equine-related subject matter, including structure and movement, in a competitive setting. This contest will provide an educational experience for all participants. 

The two days prior to the contest, the KSU Horse Judging Team will be hosting a beginner and advanced Horse Judging Educational Camp for youth. For more information regarding their registration click here. It will be released soon. 

What:  2023 Kansas State 4-H Horse Judging Contest

  • Cost:  $20/individual, includes lunch
  • Additional lunches for coaches:  $10

When:  June 15, 2023

  • Check-in:  8:00 a.m.
  • Contest begins:  9:00 a.m.

Where:  Saline County Expo Center; Salina, KS

Who:  The contest awards are available to all Kansas 4-H members 9-18.

  • Out-of-state, and non 4-H Horse Judging Camp attendees are welcome to participate in the contest for practice, but they will not be eligible for 4-H awards. Please select practice contest during camp registration.
