Cool Careers Video Production Contest
Last call for Cool Careers 4-H Video Contest entries - entry deadline is August 1st! Cool Careers 4-H Video Contest is open to any 4-H member enrolled for the current 4-H year. 4-H members will select a profession within one of their projects in which they are enrolled for the current year. 4-H members will film, edit, and publish an original video (4-10 minutes in length) about a professional working in this field and their career. These videos should be geared towards youth 4th -8th grade to inspire and introduce them to the exciting opportunities in the selected field of work. 4-H youth are encouraged to use equipment they have at home - cell phones, iPad or other tablet, home computer, camera, etc. For Cool Career video examples from Hirepaths, click here. Please note, these are professional videos; we don't expect this level of video production from youth just starting out. We understand that our youth are learning as they go. We want them to research a career and create a video with what they know; it does not need to be as polished and professional as the example videos!
4-H members may register as an individual or a group (up to four 4-H members). Groups can consist of no more than four 4-H members of the same or different ages. If registering as a group, at least 1-2 members must be enrolled in the specific project being highlighted in the video. Adults may assist 4-H youth, but must allow youth to do a majority of the work. Videos must be submitted in MP4 format.
A panel of judges will evaluate the final product for originality, creativity, and execution. Award-winning videos will be published on the Kansas 4-H Website, the HirePaths website, and at the Kansas State Fair!
