My PI Disaster Preparedness Program Registration Open

We are excited to partner with Mississippi State University to offer the Kansas Youth Preparedness Initiative free Train-the-Trainer event. Once trained, participants will lead and partner with organizations to deliver preparedness training to youth in their community. Please share with other professionals in your community that may want to attend.

What is MyPI?  MyPI is designed for 13-19 year olds.  MyPI offers 21-24 hours of educational experience for teens.  Teens will receive:
• Student manual and Backpack with emergency supplies
• New skills
• Exposure to careers and other aspects of emergency preparedness

Who can attend training? KSRE professionals and/or adult community members.  Participants must attend all three days of training.
Where: Sedgwick County Extension Center in Wichita
When: May 6th noon to May 8th at 3pm **must attend entire session**

Participant counties will receive $50 travel reimbursement and $200 for expenses once the program is implemented.  Registration is limited to 18 participants. More than one person from each county may attend, but reimbursement is per site/county, not participant.

Trainers will have 12 months to deliver programming to at least 12 youth in their community. The youth will participate in the PREP+6 Service Project.  PREP+6 Service Project has youth will educate their own family and to commit to creating an emergency supply kit and a family communication plan. They will also educate six other individuals or families to do the same.
