Celebrating Volunteers!
We know that the 4-H organization cannot have the impact and outreach without our dedicated volunteers. Did you know during the 2022-2023 4-H year, Kansas 4-H had 3,052 registered volunteers enrolled in the 4-H Online system? Extension professionals across the state reported a total of 309,346 volunteer hours dedicated to all Extension programming efforts.
According to https://independentsector.org/, the 2022 hourly value of a volunteer in Kansas was $28.50. When you figure the number of hours reported times this figure, volunteers invested a minimum of $8,816,361.00 of their time and talents into Kansas Extension Programs!
As you report your quarterly educational contacts, please do not forget to include volunteer hours. These hours are used in our annual impact report for K-State Research and Extension and demonstrates the investment our volunteers have in our programs.
