Kansas 4-H Tip Sheet

Thanks for Camp 2021 and Briefing on 4-H Camp 2022

Submitted by Wade M. Weber

4-H

I want to start by expressing my sincere appreciation and I want to applaud the efforts of Extension professionals, volunteers, and teen counselors from across Kansas who provided leadership to a great 4-H camping season! What we have overcome this past year in launching camp is truly extra-ordinary! Job well done.

Concerning 4-H Camp, changes are being made to expand and diversify opportunities for more youth to participate in immersive camp experiences at Rock Springs Ranch in 2022. Jim Wheaton has written an article this week spelling out some of the implications for teen leadership development with the coming changes.

The Camp Task Force is continuing to refine and clarify agent roles in the whole of camping as a developmentally progressive delivery mode (from introductory experiences at the local unit level in a day-camp setting to the highly immersive multi-day experience at Rock Springs Ranch).

On July 9 at 3 pm, 4-H Camp 2022 plans were shared as a part of Extension’s Monthly Friday Update. Additional engagement opportunities are being planned.

I hope that many of you will engage in those opportunities as they are planned. If you have questions, please let me know.
