Most States’ 4-H Inbound and Outbound Exchanges Cancelled for this Summer

Submitted by Mary Kay Munson

Other than the exchange with Japan all other inbound and outbound exchange partners for States’ 4-H summer exchanges have decided not to conduct exchanges for this summer.  Our Kansas prospective outbound delegates were given the option to join the delegation to Japan.  Taelur Barnes, Meadowlark District decided to accept that option.  Kate Rogers, Scott County, will continue her plans to go to Japan.  Others who had planned to travel in 2021 have decided to cancel their plans.

States’ 4-H has pushed back the decision on continuing the Japan Outbound a month with acceptance letters to be issued February 15 and next payments due March 1.  As of this writing the Japan exchange is moving forward.    Others are waiting with the U.S. until about April to make a final decision to proceed.  Kansas families who applied to host Costa Ricans last year will be offered the opportunity to host a Japanese teen.
