2021 Kansas 4-H Wheat Expo Results

Over 56 Kansas 4-H members, siblings, parents, grandparents and Extension staff attended the 2021 Kansas 4-H Wheat Expo in El Dorado on August 11th at the Butler County Community Building.  Thanks to Butler County Extension staff Charlene Miller and Andrea Perry for hosting the wheat expo.  Participants judged educational classes of wheat, yeast rolls, and photography.  Participants were able to attend two educational tours.

Planning team members included:  Charlene Miller, Andrea Perry, Alicia Boor, Yonghui Li, Jodi Drake, Elly Sneath, Anita DeWeese, Kyle Grant, Gengjun Chen, and Deryl Waldren.   Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s wheat expo the success it was.

Awards were given in eight divisions and the judging activity.  Premium monies for those who attended will be awarded and checks will be mailed to participants in the near future.  The major results in each division are:

Division 1 – 1 lb. Wheat, Produced by 4-H member (8 exhibits)

1st – Grayson Maxwell, Pawnee County, Mint variety

2nd – Bridget Wells, Sedgwick County, Bob Dole variety

3rd - Bridget Wells, Sedgwick County, Doublestop variety

 

Division 2 – 1 lb. Wheat, Adopt a Wheat Producer (3 exhibits)

1st – Garrett Dunn, 21 Central District – St. John, Bob Dole variety

2nd – Addison Maxwell, Pawnee County, Zenda variety

3rd – Lexi Wright, Wild West District – Sublette, Warhawk variety

 

Division 3 – 1 Quart Jar of Cleaned Wheat (13 exhibits)

1st – Grayson Maxwell, Pawnee County

2nd – Ian Dunn, 21 Central District – St. John

3rd – Addison Maxwell, Pawnee County

 

Division 4 – 3 Yeast Rolls (8 exhibits)
